The Strata AIRDOC COS is a a walk-thru chamber that functions as an SCSR or SCBA storage cache. It provides miners a clean, well lit environment in which to exchange breathing air apparatus as they evacuate. Miners can safely communicate and read mine maps, drink water and rest before proceeding to exit the mine. When AIRDOC is used in stand alone mode, it can provide in excess of 24 hrs of breathable air.
Dual Airlock clear strip curtains are positioned at both the entrance and exit doors. They are positioned in a way that reduces the risk of hazardous gases entering the main area of the chamber.
AIRDOCs are designed with fork lift slots and lifting and towing lugs for ease of movement throughout the mine.
Technical advancements of the Strata Change-Over Station include:
- Fresh, Breathable Air Supply System - Provides fresh air supply from oxygen and compressed air cylinders (air only for coal mines).
- CO2 Scrubber System - Patented air-powered CO2 scrubber for coal mines, or battery powered for non-coal mines, removes carbon dioxide using soda lime chemicals.
- Holds 50 Self-Rescuers - Storage rack holds 50 Self-Rescuers. Self-Rescuers remain in the "stand-by" mode until required.
- Visible Inspection - The SCSRs are positioned so that the Inspection Viewing Site Glass is visible while on the rack. This enables a quick check ensuring that the Self-Rescuer is in a serviceable and safe condition.
