Continuing with its tradition of forming successful partnerships, Strata Worldwide has entered into an agreement with Dräger Safety to be the company's primary distributor for its mining division east of the Mississippi. Since 1992, Strata Worldwide, LLC has become a global leader in mine safety solutions that bring about a safer, more productive working environment both above and below ground. The company has grown rapidly by establishing strong business partnerships with companies that supply advanced safety products.
"We are excited to be extending our offerings to include reputable safety products from Dräger, along with supporting the company's involvement in mine safety and rescue," said Rory Paton-Ash, CEO of Strata Worldwide. "We feel this partnership strengthens Strata's position in the industry and effectively supplements our current safety lines of mine refuge chambers and post-accident communications and tracking systems."
Strata will market Dräger's complete line of personal safety and protective equipment, mine rescue apparatus, self-contained self-rescuers (SCSRs), and personal gas detection devices for all types of mining. The company will also provide support for Dräger's mine rescue initiatives, including training, mine rescue competitions, service, and maintenance. The servicing, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of consumable functions for the Dräger products will be performed at Strata's regional support centers.
"We are very pleased to partner with Strata in this vital region of the mining market," explained Tim Martin, VP of Sales, Dräger Safety, NA. "Strata adds an excellent sales and support network to promote and service our extensive family of mining products. That family not only includes the well-known rescue products, but operational, health and safety products as well. This relationship between Dräger Safety and Strata offers the mining community the means, capability, and capacity to reach the National Mining Association's CORESafety goal of 0:50:5." This means zero facilities and reduction of accidents of 50% over 5 years.
Paton-Ash, founder of Strata Worldwide, based in Atlanta, Georgia, has built and transformed Strata from initially being a timber roof support manufacturer to a global leader in mine safety technology and services. For two decades with his forward-thinking leadership and by combining extensive research and development projects with advantageous business partnerships, he has made Strata Worldwide a leader in safety chambers, innovative communication and tracking systems, and advanced mine services.
"The relationship with Dräger now positions Strata Worldwide firmly into the Mine Rescue business, as well as adding the highest quality safety related products to our existing safety product and services range," Paton-Ash told Coal News.
At the same time, Strata Worldwide has appointed Rob Albinger to the position of Vice President and General Manager of its Strata Safety Products division. Among his responsibilities, Albinger is driving the efforts for the new partnerships with Dräger and Trolex, in addition to managing Strata's existing relationship with Northern Light Technologies (NLT). The new relationship between Strata and British-based mine safety and condition monitoring leader Trolex, Ltd. was also announced recently. Albinger's responsibilities include leading the sales, service, customer support, and repair functions for all these partnerships.
"We fully recognize the value Rob can offer Strata as we enter into these new distribution agreements with Dräger Safety and Trolex particularly with his years of experience working in underground gas monitoring," said Mike Berube, Strata Worldwide President and COO. Albinger will be based in Strata's new western Pennsylvania facility which is opening in early 2013.
