Strata AIRDOC Change-Over Station

The Strata AIRDOC Change-Over Station is a transitional station that offers miners a non-toxic environment in which to rest, recover and exchange SCSR units during evacuation of the mine. In an emergency, miners enter the Change-Over Station, remove their SCSR and replace it with a new SCSR from the rack. Upon exiting the unit, the used SCSRs are placed in a disposal bin located next to the exit door.

The first level of safety is a filtration system that is connected to mine air. While mine air is available and turned to the 'ON' position, the duration of air supply is virtually unlimited.

Oxygen from the cylinders is directed through the CO2 Scrubber System .In the event that mine air is not available, the Change-Over Station has a breathing air system that provides fresh, breathable air using compressed oxygen cylinders and a CO2 scrubbing system. Oxygen from the cylinders is directed through the CO2 Scrubber System and released into the center of the change over area of the unit. When operating on 100% stand alone mode, the Change-Over Station provides 9 hours of breathable air.

For metal/non-metal mines, the CO2 scrubber is battery operated. For coal mines the scrubber is powered by a flow of compressed air from cylinders. Food, water, communication devices, extra SCSRs and first aid kits can be stored in the unit.

Airlock Entry & Exit

Plastic Airlock Clear Strip Curtains are positioned at both the entrance and exit doors. These Airlock Clear Strips must remain in the closed position to minimize the introduction of air contaminants and ensure the center safe-area is free of toxic gas. The Airlocks are positioned in a way that reduces the risk of hazardous gases entering the main center section. In addition, always keep at least one door closed to stop a "draft effect" from occurring which may cause toxic gas to enter the unit. The station requires very little maintenance which is noted on the maintenance schedule.
