Strata CommTrac
is a completely wireless, intrinsically safe digital communications and
tracking system for underground mining operations. The revolutionary, node-to-node
Strata CommTrac architecture transmits text and location data between:
- Miner-to-surface operations
- Surface operations-to-miner
- Underground miner-to-miner
Node-Based Communications Network
The Strata CommTrac system incorporates a network of mobile and fixed nodes that send and receive information. The lightweight miner interface unit (mobile node) clips to a miner’s belt or vest. Mobile nodes transmit location ID of the miner every 30 seconds and send and receive messages through fixed nodes in the mine.
The small, rugged fixed nodes, with internal antenna and long-life internal battery, relay messages and location data to the surface monitoring system. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) on the surface displays location mapping, data logging and text messages.
