Quality & Reliability Engineer

This position will be responsible for performing quality and reliability analysis of electronic hardware and prototype electronic circuitry for Strata Worldwide electronic products. Works closely with the Design Engineering to ensure that product features, performance and quality requirements are met and the product exceeds the expectations of our customers.
Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Work with Design Engineering to ensure designs meet reliability and quality goals to include but are not limited to: Stress and De-rating analysis, circuit simulation, preferred parts selection
  • Analyze and test electronic hardware using Design for Reliability (DFR) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) techniques
  • Develop product qualification and reliability test plans for new products
  • Resolve product quality and reliability issues for failed product
  • Provide guidance to internal team and interface with customers regarding quality and reliability questions or concerns
  • Issue reports on quality metrics and reliability test results obtained at our test subcontractors. Write and publish qualification reports
  • Technical Review of mechanical and electrical documents
  • Generate engineering change orders and temporary deviations to formally document any changes made to products
  • Evaluates contract manufacturers/suppliers capabilities and performs quality audits to ensure products and services are being provided per Strata requirements
  • Support contract manufactures in the areas of part obsolescence and part substitutions
  • Plans, conducts and technically directs projects or phases of projects
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
Qualifications:

Education and/or experience

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution/ Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering highly preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience in applying Quality and Reliability concepts of electronic equipment and electronic components
  • Previous experience in reliability testing, statistical data analysis and reliability analysis
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge/skills/abilities

  • Reliability Analysis, Statistics, Root Cause Failure Analysis, FMEA
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate tasks with internal team and external subcontractors
  • Well-developed organizational skills, with the ability to successfully meet competing deadlines
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and the ability to solve complex problems
  • Monitors reliability metrics and goals to drive quality improvement efforts
  • Ability to develop and manage good working relationships with internal departments, contractors, suppliers, inspectors and customers
  • Monitor and manage product reliability testing
  • Ensures that products and processes meet industry standards in the areas of intrinsic safety, and explosion proof enclosures
  • Strong mechanical and electrical/electronic knowledge and aptitude
  • Experience in PCB layout and tools such as Altium is a plus
  • Experience in radio development or electromagnetic fields are a plus
  • Must have strong analytical and decision making skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and ability to build and maintain key relationships
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
  • Must have a willingness to learn new things and have a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point)
