  • Outride

What are you outriding? Some children are outriding isolation, anxiety, obesity, and other intense social problems without the tools and positive outlets to cope.

Outride is a non-profit organization that provides research, programs, and funding to empower all people to experience the social, emotional, and cognitive benefits of cycling. At Strata, we recognize the physical and mental benefits of cycling and support it as a way to escape daily stress, clear your mind, and stay in shape. For this reason, Strata donates to the Outride Fund to support the efforts of the organization.

Outride has helped over 10K young people with equipment and provided grants to 43 non-profits and schools to promote bicycling. Organizers train teachers and mentors on the Riding-For-Focus program which helps young people set and achieve goals. The result is healthy habits, time outdoors, and mental focus that lasts a lifetime.

  • Volunteer for a Day

In every community, non-profit organizations play a vital role in serving and supporting those in need by providing essential resources such as food, shelter, clothing, and other necessities on a daily basis. These organizations also offer numerous opportunities for individuals to volunteer their time and resources to help others.

There are groups dedicated to protecting and preserving natural landscapes and forests by planting trees and conserving the environment.

On a quarterly basis, Strata employees come together to volunteer their time at these organizations, contributing to the community and supporting their missions.

  • Strata South Africa Wheelchair Drive

For many who have lost their ability to walk, be it from a birth defect or injury, mobility is essential to survival. A working and comfortable wheelchair is the key to independence, employment, and the normal opportunities afforded any other abled person.

In partnership with Thungela Goedehoop mining community and the Nkangala District Municipality, the Strata South Africa Wheelchair Drive provided essential mobility to impaired individuals from a historically disadvantaged area. This includes Komati Village and Middelburg within the Steve Tshwete local municipality.

Providing wheelchairs to those without access to proper equipment has increased the quality of life for recipients and they are now able to participate in activities that their lack of mobility had previously denied them.

  • Basic Electrical Training Programme

Strata Worldwide partnered with Thungela Goedehoop and ExcelGrow Group Holdings, to uplift and provide valuable skills to individuals in Middleburg, South Africa.

Located two hours outside of Johannesburg, the town is a promising hub for the next generation of potential electricians and electrical engineers. The Basic Electrical Training Programme, held in late 2024, provided motivated applicants with a core talent for technical subjects, with valuable N1-N6 Level certifications.

Strata screened 126 applicants and interviewed 89 candidates on their skill level and qualifications and participants were selected. After evaluation, 25 candidates participated in the 17-day course that included practical coursework and hands-on training.

Once finished, the participants were granted nationally recognized certifications backed by Strata Worldwide and its partners. The result of this program is an increased pool of skilled labor within a region that needs vital infrastructure and talent.

  • Community Entrepreneurship Development Programme

Communities are built on entrepreneurship. Many rural farming and mining communities like Kriel in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa lack the basic infrastructure required to fully serve those who live and work there. From plumbers to restaurant owners, economic growth requires motivated individuals who provide goods, services, and jobs.

Strata Worldwide, in partnership with ExcelGrow Group Holdings and Exxaro Matla Coal, created a programme to foster these future leaders. After receiving 248 applications, ExcelGrow representatives conducted 202 interviews to select 43 candidates who displayed the skills and drive to succeed.

Taught by experienced entrepreneurs, the curriculum covered basic skills and requirements for entrepreneurship. Participants received nationally recognized certifications and now possess the knowledge to open businesses, hire people, and produce greater economic opportunities.
