ROBUST, DURABLE DESIGN FOR UNDERGROUND COAL MINING

HazardAvert ® for coal mining is an electromagnetic proximity detection system designed to increase personnel safety and safety awareness while working in and around mobile machinery. It was developed to prevent machinery-to-person crushing and pinning type accidents in underground environments.

The system detects when a person enters the “hazard zone” around operating machinery, or when machinery blindly approaches a pedestrian in its path. It will automatically sound warning alerts to both the machine operator and the pedestrian.

HazardAvert can also be optionally interfaced into the controls of the equipment to automatically slow and/or stop the vehicle completely.

For coal mining, and other gaseous environments, the system components are intrinsically safe, or are housed in explosion proof (XP) casings.

 

HOW IT WORKS

The system generates electromagnetic marker zones around machinery using system Generators. One or multiple generators can be used on a single machine. Individuals each wear Personal Alarm Devices (PAD) which detect these zones. If potential danger is detected the system triggers warning alarms, or initiates autonomous braking.

Multiple people and multiple machines in a working section will be detected at all times.
