Release April 8, 2011
ATLANTA – Strata Proximity Systems, LLC announced today that the two newly enhanced components of the HazardAvert® Proximity Detection and Collision Avoidance system have received approval from the US Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). These components include the Personal-Alarm Device (PAD) and the quick connect cabling.
HazardAvert is a proximity detection and collision avoidance safety system designed to prevent accidents and injuries by detecting when a person or vehicle enters a specifically marked area around an operating piece of machinery. When this marked zone is breached, the system emits an audible and visual warning alert and can also be programmed to slow or stop the machine automatically.
“We are very pleased to have received approval from MSHA,” stated Mike Berube, company Chief Operating Officer, “Strata is always committed to providing efficient, effective ways to keep miners safe. Now that all updated components of HazardAvert have been approved in the US, mine operators can access the best technology for their people and operations.”
The HazardAvert PAD is worn by operators and miners to detect and measure the magnetic fields created by the system generators. This latest generation of the PAD provides enhanced user control and is highly configurable to meet specific mine requirements.
The newly approved quick connect cables provide significantly faster and easier installation of the system and replacement of parts.
Proven: HazardAvert is currently installed and operational mine-wide in underground coal mines
Integrated: Multiple machines and multiple miners can work without any system conflict
Smart: Data from HazardAvert can be used to increase productivity
Efficient: A single PAD works with all equipment generators mine-wide
Configurable: Magnetic fields easily configured
Flexible: HazardAvert generators can be installed on any and all types of mining machinery and vehicles; above and below ground.
