New product stabilizes fractures for surface and underground coal mining operations

STRATA WORLDWIDE is very pleased to announce a new exclusive supply agreement for the United States coal mining industry with Grace Construction Products, headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Together the companies are bringing to market a new rock consolidation injection product, Organosol™ 550 DT, which has been developed specifically for use in surface and underground mining.

Organosol™ 550 DT is a non-expanding, two-component injection resin that offers mines an advanced alternative to traditional urea-silicate glues. It is designed to consolidate and stabilize fractured coal, rock and gravel in underground roadways, shafts, coal faces and longwalls. Organosol™ 550 DT is insensitive to water in the reaction and will not absorb, shrink, expand or foam when it comes into contact with water. It can be used to seal against water.

This new cooperation is a milestone for both companies, combining Grace’s extensive expertise and technical experience in consolidation and water-stopping materials with Strata Worldwide’s decades of mining experience.

Mike Fabio, Engineer for Stata Worldwide notes that “we have conducted thorough testing to refine the properties of Organosol™ 550 DT to ensure it meets the demands of the mining environment.  It has proven to have excellent bonding properties and a compressive strength reaching up to 5000psi.”
